Damn. Hope you're okay. My 57 Chevy let go while I was under it awhile back and luckily 1 jackstand stopped it about an inch from my face. I got out from under it, left it as it lay, put the garage door down, went inside, and didn't even look at it for 2 weeks. Scared the shit out of me.

That is why I always put jack stands under the car if I even have to go under for a second. A neighbor of ours died that way. Oil change gone wrong with no one around...what a horrible way to go.

Yes.. I have 4 stands and 3 jacks, and use combinations of all three when climbing under just to be safe.

Turns out I ended up with a simple fracture and a large hematoma around it. The bone part isn't so bad but the swelling has my skin so stretched out it hurts like shit. No blood clots though so that's good I guess. Thanks for the well wishes. I appreciate it!

Exactly. It happened in a millisecond. Rear suspension I was screwing with suddenly let go, dropping the car with a loud bang. The gas tank was 6 inches from me, then it was 1, and hit my shoulder on the way down, but not badly. The whole event just stunned the shit out of me.

Yea. I got real lucky. A 2005 GMC is kinda heavy. Could have been way worse.

I had a car try to fall on me once. I had a jack stand and a jack, but it wasn't balanced right and I was really wrestling with the rear axle... car started to slip and thankfully I was able to roll the fuck out.

But it put the fear in me for sure... now it's multiple jack stands, a tensioned jack, and I bump the vehicle and TRY to knock it off the stands before I crawl under it!

Glad you're alright. I think it happens to more car guys at some point than we care to admit!
