  • Got to cross 2 things off my bucket list

I got to take a couple weeks R&R in the Caribbean. I was able to do two things I always wanted: Dive the wreck of an honest to goodness Spanish galleon and swim with the sharks. Two more things off my list and a whole lot more to go.

Here are a few shots. A couple of nurse sharks sleeping on a reef in about 15 ft of water.. There was a female about 7-8 ft long and a young male about 4-5 ft long.

Man pics never do the dive justice. Looks fun though.

Looks like fun! I swam with black tip reef sharks on my honeymoon, couldn't get my wife to get in the water. I had one of those disposable under water cameras at the time and all the pictures turned out bad.

I swam with sharks (in a controlled environment) on my honeymoon and was still freaked out. There is a point when Jaws starts going through your mind.

I got to swim with whale sharks last month. This one was pretty small, about 20' long. A couple of years ago we were with some that were 30-35'! It is a little unnerving being in the water with animals that size.

In this, you also see a ~8' manta ray...

I hope to get some snorkel time and might even try out scuba at the end of the month in Tulum south of Cancuun. Don't think I will be searching for any sharks though.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

Shipwreck was kind of a let down - nothing left but the ballast pile and some coral. It was still a fun dive. First time for me to do any underwater metal detecting.
