Sorry to interrupt a budding feud. I had a moment today I will never forget. I was flying to Reno.

We had just passed over the Llano Estacado and we went in to a scud layer. Cloudy and cruddy seeing the ground sometimes the clouds that are disorienting. I started thinking about what day it is. Thousands upon thousands of airmen throwing themselves into that during WWII over Germany. Creaky piston driven overweight planes with a crew of 11. Knowing the odds suck but they were willing to get it done no matter. That's true courage. They knew the odds and did it anyway.

Here my dumbass is zooming along in a pressurized heated jet wanking about how long it takes. They did more then that each way with "electric" flight suits they hoped would hold out. Every time they took off it was iffy that they would come home.


They did it anyway.
