  • Who likes their Ecoboost F150??

I have a '13 with 8500 miles, gas mileage keeps getting better, I have been getting 19.5avg with 50/50 city and hwy, pulls 5k lbs and gets 16mpg @ 67mph. It tows great.

I have been having a strange "shudder" at 1mph in reverse when being light on the brakes, seems like the tranny to me, same trans as in the 5.0 too, not sure whats up with that, if it gets worse I am going to take it in, the motor has been great.

Good to hear. I often wonder if I made a mistake getting the 5.0, only because I never even drove one with ecoboost. I'm getting 15.5 in the city, drivin it like its stolen. I put a KN 63 kit on it but I think I'm gonna put the stock on back on.

My GF has a 2011 with Eco and I love it. It seems to have just as much power as my 2010 with the 5.4 and her gas milage is much better than mine. Of course she drives it easier than I do but she averages around 19 mpg city/hwy and when she does to her moms in Austin she will get around 27. PUlls just as good as mine to but gets about the same mpg pulling a trailer as mine does.

My wife has a 2012 f150 w/ ecoboost...she doesn't get near the mileage that it's capable of, but almost all of get driving is in the city, so I guess it's to be expected. She had a 2010 with a 5.4, and it seems to be about the same, for city driving. It gets great mileage on the hwy, though, and it has a lot of power...though my 2011 flowersmoke beats it in both the power and mpg depts!

Take it in for the shudder. No reason to wait to establish a paper trail with a warranty issue.

This is a little funny to me. Saying the Ecoboost feels about the same as the 5.4...

            Eco V6 365hp/420tq
            5.0 V8 360hp/380tq
            5.4 V8 310hp/365tq

Eco has 55 more hp and tq than the 5.4 had...

Then it shouldn't be too far-fetched for them to seem to get about the same gas mileage, eh?

I was talking about fuel mileage.

Sure, but my response was to the fact that they (Guess it was only slow55 now that I look back) were saying they felt the same in terms of Power, not gas mileage...

All i know is, I bought a small 4x4 frontier because I figured the smaller truck and v6 would be good on gas (relatively speaking)...and while I love the truck, I sure was wrong on the gas mileage part.

The conditions have to be "just right" to get it to do it, I don't want to drop it off with them, have them beat the fuck out of it, and say, sorry man, we couldn't get it to do it. I want to be able to "show" them. I have had HORRIBLE experiences with dealer service departments, they beat the shit out of your car, i've had body damage, and other bullshit issues.

can you make it do it at will, or is it a problem that only happens every now and again?

If you can make it do it, set an appointment with a service advisor, tell him what is going on, and ask if you can take him and possibly the trans/drivability tech for a ride to demo the issue. I had one that was a hard to make happen problem when I was turning wrenches, and the owner could make it happen every time, but none of us in the shop could reproduce it.
