Tailor / Alterations place?

anyone familar with getting their clothes altered? Iv had a few jeans cut a little shorter before, but thats about it.

Im 6'0" and 170lbs, iv recently lost about 10lbs and now some of my shirts dont really fit me great anymore. I wear a medium shirt, and small is too small. Alot of my mediums, and even brand new mediums are sometimes too baggy in the torso/waist area.

Im wondering if an alterations place can do this kind of trimming? And what would that probably cost?

and lastly, do you know of any good ones you trust around Mansfield or Bedford area? Thats where I live and work and would like for it to be close.

dress shirts right? unless you have higher end shirts, IMO, it's not worth it.

i had a nice dress shirt rebuilt to a fitted/tapered design. i think it was $25, and now i dont even wear it cause the shoulders and sleeves are still baggyish.

if you do go to a tailor, just read up some reviews. i found a good one now but that guy is expensive.


as far as buying new stuff, just learn how to shop. stick with modern brands or european brands so the shirts don't balloon. buy fitted, modern fits or tapered designs only, never regular fit. regular apparently means gut. avoid pleats.

also, decide if you need to ever wear a tie with the shirt. if you don't need a tie then you can get a better fit shirt in most brands because apparently if you have a bigger neck, they decide you have a bigger stomach.

some dress shirts, but some just polo, lacoste, etc shirts that i wear untucked with jeans or shorts.

i called a local place near me, asian lady answered and said $12 a shirt. But thing is, takes 7-10 days...
