  • No contest divorce, educate me

How does it work?...you two split up everything on your own? She is on the house paperwork but not on the mortgage, doesn't want the house. In a no contest/fault situation will I have to pay her half of the house value? It's pretty much the only thing I'm worried about since we don't have kids.

I already regret posting this but looking for answers.

she may just want to walk with nothing besides clothes, pics and other small household items...If so, then you can print out the paper work yourself, yall sit down and fill it out and take it in to the court...Think it costs around $500

That's about right but I think mine was $299. Only one person has to show up at court. You read a paragraph to the judge he signs the paperwork and then you go bang your now ex-wife's best friend. Or at least that's what happened with mine.
We found a book at the book store that even had all the paperwork in it.

Easy process for the most part with no kids. You can find all the forms online. Just file the suit with the court, make sure she reads and agrees to everything in the decree before your court date. If she wants half of the value of the house (or half of the equity if you don't own it) you'll either need to agree to pay her (in whatever way you two agree on) or sell it and give her half of what you get. Just make sure every detail of what you two own and how it is being split up is laid out in the decree and she has read and agreed to it all before filing the court date.

This is all assuming you'll be the one filing for the divorce and not her.

I did it in Hunt County for under $100 bucks. I printed out the paperwork online and had her sign a waiver saying she didn't want to show up or contest anything in the paperwork. Submit, judge says fine and 30 days later, you're good to go.
