Im sure they take them for free. I took a truck load of old computers to a place out by Grapevine they strip them down and melt the gold off the CPU, memory and most connections are gold plated. Then sell some of the parts over seas.
I Couldnt figure out why some one would ship a truck load of old computers to DFW from NJ. Then talking to the guy hewas telling me about all the parts that are gold and silver plating in them, with gold at what it is now per oz and copper wire is getting a good price also.
