  • Foosball?

I know on the other forum it was briefly touched. I was wondering how many guys or gals play? I picked up what will be my fourth and last foosball table on the 27th. It is a restored 1970's coin op glass top Tornado. I had bid on one a few years ago and never came across another. Then a gem popped up on Craigslist. I must say playing with the single goalie and ramps is more challenging and much more fun.

    Ugh to the ramps.

    I play, love Foosball.

I haven't played Foosball in years but I loved playing it. I would consider getting a table if I had a place to put it in the house.

Personally I prefer ramps and a single goalie.

Foosball is fun as hell. I grew up with an old Tornado table. It is still at my parents house. I have no idea what year it was made.

i just spin the shit out of the handles. apparently this is frowned upon by serious players as i got in a verbal confrontation at a bar with some gents that took great offense to my "style" of play. and by "style" i mean not knowing what the hell i was doing.

            god bless.

Spinning is illegal. Your hand can not leave the handle.

It is all in the wrist.

Probably not. I have never played it outside of my moms house. But we get serious, we bust kneecaps for that sort of offense.

I thought you could leave the handle, but the foot of the "player" can not go over 360 degrees after contacting the ball. Pretty much the same thing, but if you can spin/catch it real quick, you can get some serious power. This dude at work does, it is fucken crazy how fast he can hit the damn ball.

I don't know the definitive answer. I just go by what we decided in my house. How can you control a "player" without your hand on the handle? Seems like it would be impossible to spin it JUST 360 degrees.

And yea, some people get some wicked speed the correct way.

I dunno how he does it, but he has this wicked quick spin and grabs it again, it's like fucken magic or something!

                          Found the "official rules" here

                          Spinning the Rods
Spinning of the rods is illegal. Spinning is defined as the rotation of any soccer figure more than 360 degrees before or after striking the ball. In calculating the 360 degrees, you do not add the degrees spun prior to striking the ball to the degrees spun after striking the ball.

A ball which is advanced by an illegal spin is replayed as follows:
If the ball goes in the goal, then it will not be counted as a point and will be put back into play by the goalie as if the ball had been declared a dead ball between the goal and the nearest two-man rod.

I've been playing for about 10 years now. Screw the ramps! I just passed through my old fav bar in San Marcos several weeks ago and some college kids were playing. I felt some sort of sick gratification beating the piss out of all of them. Wish I could play real soccer like the foosball. The loud "pop of the tin followed by, "man, I can't even see the damn ball!"

That's the way I play. Doolittle's run style.
