We can remove a significant portion of gas from a chamber to the extent containing antimatter is a statistical possibility. Mathematically every building block of matter has its antimatter counterpart (and I think an opposite charge to its sibling). When matter and antimatter collide they annihilate each other and produce energy. Theoretically its the greatest release of energy possible pound for pound. The reason everyone is in such a rush to understand antimatteris because there should be an equal mass of matter to anitmatter, and their isn't. Which begs the question, where did all the antimatter go? And why didn't it annihilate a requisite amount of matter in its disappearance?
