What's the best cell phone on T Mobile?

I've had an iphone for a few years now, unlocked on T Mobile (because it's cheaper and no contract). I'm ready for something new, but the prices on the iphone 4S without a contract pisses me off ($700). Plus, when you unlock the iphone and use it on T Mobile your data speed is worse than dial up. Any suggestions on a nice smart phone for T Mobile?
