Someone a long time ago said that the reason we had front license plates long ago was in downtown areas we didn't have parallel parking like today, and it was to avoid the parking ticket writers having to walk into traffic to write tickets. Since we don't really have alot of parking like that now it just doubles the cost so why get rid of it.
Radar does not need the plate or use it to register a reading, thats why your cars' color has bearing on where you can mount the detectors. Not 100% sure but I think in my instructions it said I could mount it low on the dash and not centered (behind the inspection sticker) if my car was dark colored, although I would limit rear detection. Like I said I'm not sure that is true though, been a while.
All for no front plate though, don't have it anyway.
