  • Engagement Ring

I posted this on the other forum some time ago but haven't really checked back on there. Some of you guys may have replied already so bare with me. Here is the deal, I pulled the plug on our engagement & got the ring back from my ex. So now I'm stuck with a ring that I spent $5000.00 on.

What do you guys think would be the best way to get most of my money back from it? Sell it or try trading it for something of equal value? The only way the jewelery store will give me a 100% back is if I spend twice the amount ($10K) which I don't plan on doing.

BTW, I can't post pics of her because she erased them all from my computer. Lol...

    Thanks!!!

              Worth... it's 100% platinum

But I also buy from an independent jeweler and don't pay for huge overhead and maeketing campaigns when I buy jewelry

How long ago was it purchased? Most stores have the 30 day money back 90 day exchange policy and if you want to trade up, you must double your original purchase price. I would go and talk to the store manager and tell him/her of your situation and respectfully ask if they would make an exception and give you a full refund, most business savy managers will make an exception.

Now, if that does not work, be NICE and ask for the District/Regional manager's phone number and call them and explain the situation, most District manager's will take care of it as a customer service gesture.

                  Hope this helps,

btw, if you want to pm me the name of the company you purchased it from, I "might" be able to steer you in the right direction.

Look into consignment . I ended up getting mine sold for 2k more than i paid for it and that was after hr fee. The more unique the better - if you can get the same stone at a mall jeweler then you'll likely get screwed.

I would think the right jewelry store might give you about 1/2 what they think they could sell it for...

describe what you got and someone might make you an offer or post it for sale here in the classifieds.

You can always save it and use again someday.
