12-Year-Old Charged with Trying to Kill Cop

BATON ROUGE, La. - Baton Rouge police say a 12-year-old, two teens and an adult are accused of shooting at a policeman who was investigating an attempted break-in.

Sgt. Don Stone says the youngest boy was booked Tuesday, and a 14-year-old, a 15-year-old and 25-year-old Abraham Washington were arrested last week.

He says the 15-year-old allegedly fired at least twice as a patrol car pulled up to the car in which he and the others had been sitting about 5 a.m. July 5, near a house where someone had reported an attempted break-in.

Stone says the car had been stolen from the same neighborhood earlier that morning by backing it out of a garage without opening the door.

Stone said all four were booked with burglary and attempted murder of a police officer.
