It could be the extractor, however it could also be some light loads. Colt Commander's are known for pretty stiff springs, if you're not getting enough bang it could be short stroking - stovepipes are usually indicative of this. Insufficient slide energy will cause a lethargic ejection. I would suggest grabbing a cheap winchester white box and taking it for a spin, might solve your problem. I have a range in cleburne that I shoot at regularly, if you want we can go down there and fix your gun while we shoot it, to make sure we have it solved.
