Took me a second to understand what you were asking. But no; there have occasionally been times when I needed to unload the weapon and that left me with a secure place to put the round. Most of my guns are high capacity; I figure if I can't kill something with 19 rounds I'm just as fucked with 20.

Replace as change out? Yes, I shoot the rounds I've been carrying and replace with fresh periodically. The chambered round also gets moved when I unload for cleaning, etc. Its easier to just put the mag in, chamber the next round in the mag, then eject the mag and top off with the round that was previously in the chamber. I also alternate magazines which changes it.
