  • New comp time

Well, looks like the blue screen of death has brought me to the situation to need a new computer. I dont game or really watch movies. I only need something good for working, using PS and surfing. Is there something on store floors worth getting? I don't have a ton of money (unexpected expense) so some fancy computer isn't needed. I currently have a (dead) laptop and want a desk top so if there is a good package deal let me know. Thanks.

    Btw, I'm computer dumb...

blue screen of death doesn't always mean start buying stuff... unless that is the excuse you wanna use(although sounded like not)

BSOD usually means overheating or a bad stick of RAM. If it's a laptop, it would be easy to change out the ram and way cheaper than a new comp.

Ditto. Also might not hurt to get some canned air and clean out the heatsink/fans. Even if the hard drive is bad those arent too expensive and could even get a small ssd for a big speed boost

dual core and 4gb ram should be decent enough for what your doing. if you have stuff you need off it if you have another pc get a sata to usb adapter and copy off any important stuff then you can restore the OS/reload and not lose your stuff.

Could also see if toshiba has any bootable hardware diag disks and make sure its not reporting any issues.

Or take the easy way out and find someone with experience with this and hope for a hookup

Yo...let me know man, I could take a look at it. I'm right outside of Mckinney. If I can't get it to boot up, I can still get your stuff off of it and move it to external HDD or something. If it's too complicated, I just get a hold of TXredneck, but I'm alright of figuring most shit out..lol

I haven't seen a BSOD since my Windows XP days.

I put a cooling pad under it and it seems to be working fine now. $30 fix, so far.
