Here is my new to me tank. Just a small 20 gal tank. Has about 13lbs of live rock. It's going through the filtering/nitrogen cycle. I hope to get fish next week.
But I would give it more than just a week before you start putting expensive fish in it.
A tank can not really cycle completely with out fish, but again you do not want to put as many as you can at once. Maybe one or two tops to begin with.
I've been thinking about starting a salt water tank too but since I know jack shit about it, its hard for me to justify the cost knowing I could possible ruin it all

No not that much. Little damsels are like $5/ea and the clown fish are like $15-25. The bigger fish are pricey though. A lionfish the size of a half dollar was $85.
If I lived closer I would sell you guys looking for tanks my spare tanks.
I got alllllll tied up into this fish business and now have 5 tanks. Only 3 are operational but I am fixing to combine whats in my 55 gallon and my 29 gallon into the 75 gallon I just picked up.

Its running. The fish did well for the 36 hours in the tote
Have a new light getting delivered today so I can get the ugly work lights off and get some better pics. Working on the DIY cone skimmer still, then will make doors for the cabinet.
