  • Removing bathroom mirror, anyway to salvage it?

Read a few ways online about using a guitar string to try to reuse the mirror but later on a lot said it ended up cracking. I want to try to reuse the mirror in a workout room. Has anyone ever done it and actually been able to reuse the mirror with no cracks?

I had luck with a smallish one, but the main bathroom mirror was much larger, and broke pretty easily. They glued that MoFo on like it was a heat shield on the space shuttle. I heard you can "try" to heat it up with a blow drier a little and run fishing line/guitar string behind it too, but good luck, most of the time, the glue they use will not budge. If you're lucky, the drywall will peel up and you can salvage the mirror that way, but then have to get it off the mirror before using it again.

Good luck, and tape it up in case it does break!
    and wear goggles!

ya this thing is like 6ft by 5ft, Read you can cut the drywall out and then lay it flat and remove drywall again but that seems like more trouble than its worth to save the 60 or so new that this thing is.

Yeah, fuck that! Plus, the drywall may be anchored into a stud behind the mirror, and you'll have hell getting that loose. Chk garage sales or Craigslist for cheap mirrors if it breaks.

Gonna try to see how it looks with mirror , doing a vanity top with vessel sinks and no backsplash apparently.

If it is in the right spot and size, have you thought about just framing it?

I was able to get two giant mirrors off in one piece. You can have one if you come get it in Frisco.

Btw, cover it in saran wrap in case it breaks while removing it.

I thought it would look tacky. I should be done with at least installing everything tommorow and i'll post pics.
