AC Tune Up?

I keep getting these coupons in the mail for AC tune ups(59$).

Is it worth it or just a rip off? I moved into my house about almost 3 years ago and i've only had one problem with it last year ( capacitor )

The house was built in 2002 btw.

There is a guy here on the board that own and operates a HVAC shop. I'll have to check and see if I still have the PM from when I asked him for a quote on something.

Most "tune ups" are a physical inspection of the air handler and condenser, cleaning the condenser, and checking the refrigerant pressure. Ymmv.

sounds like good preventative maintenance to me.

and they clean the condenser with a water hose using your water...waste of money...you can do that and clean your evap yourself.

I agree. To me that's basic home maintainence.
