later versions are expected to, this one does not. Also it's "believed" to be "stealthy" which is Russian bullshit for looks like it is - classic Russian paper tiger crap.

Gargamel has a point. Anyone can build a copy, but it takes immense skill to have the cuttimg edge avionics and radars, no to mention thrist vectoring.

I think this another chinese jet bs incident that shows a fancy shell, but nothing under the hood.

Its a Fiero kit car as it sits, but were stupid if we let china or russia close the gap any further.....

Just look at the cost, it's 1/3rd the unit cost of an F-22. If history has shown us anything (and Russia has copied EVERYTHING we have ever made) it's just a Mig29 with updated engines, a new look to make people think it's an F22. Russia will target some obscure performance stat and exceed it, then proclaim it the best fighter ever made. Just take their shuttle copy - it was complete bullshit. All it did was look like the shuttle. They even launched one of them, it was completely empty inside, and only had basic control surfaces via remote - nothing at all inside of it, and it could never be used for anything but a test. They only intend to have 10 of them by 2016, and another 60 by 2020 - it's a joke. Russia hasn't changed at all, it's still a third world country with a (now) 2nd rate military controlled by a bunch of communists.

The F-22 has a significant capability to attack surface targets. In the air-to-ground configuration the aircraft can carry two 1,000-pound GBU-32 Joint Direct Attack Munitions internally

The aircraft will also be able to carry 8 of the new SDBs "Small Diameter Bomb" internally when they come on line.

The Raptor also has weapons rated pylons if need be.... (Of course it screws up the stealth characteristics)

          From the files in 2006:

"Lockheed Martin, Boeing and the USAF have acheived another milestone as the U.S. Air Force F-22 Raptor air dominance fighter destroyed a small ground target in the F-22′s fastest and highest JDAM delivery yet. Flying at 1.5 times speed of sound (1.5 mach – 1142 miles per hours) and at an altitude of 50,000 feet, the raptor released a 1000 pound JDAM that destroyed a target 27.5 miles away."

Yeah until a spy feeds them the blueprints, which I'm sure goes on way more than we know.

CNN is a little late with that news..lol

In another year they may report on China's stealth fighter

                That'll help resale value.

Similar in appearance only. I don't see comparable stealth there. Just because it's paneled the same, or has a misleading paint design, doesn't mean it functions the same. Hell, even many F-16's had signature reducing paint.

Anyway, the ability of this fighter to match the Raptor is not in it's maneuverability, power, or even it's stealth characteristics.

It's in the Radar and avionics....
Even if that's true, then it's already (obviously) behind the curve. And still a sitting duck! There's more tech in a Raptor pilots helmet mounted display alone lol. And good luck if an opposing Raptor is linked to a B1-R!

Thrust vectoring is planned for the future? Great! We'll be running variants of Ion engines by then.

The only way that "Firefox" looking bastard would be deadly is if Clint Eastwood was behind the stick.

2 large keys to F-22 stealth (among others) are planform alignment and RAM (Radar Absorbent Material)

Planform Alignment and sawtooth edges can be re-created quite readily, although the RAM may be harder to develop.

I could be wrong, but I don't think the Raptor has an HMD at this time.

The use of the JHMCS on the Raptor was "deferred" by the Air Force due to some implementation and funding issues.

Point is, history has proven that in general Migs\Sukois are very capable aircraft...
the common downfall was pilot training and avionics...

Downplay your enemy at your own peril....

There is no dispute that Russia has made some excellent fighters (Mig-29, Su-27) that are very capable. However, they have a long established history of overstating their capabilities and technology.

Couldn't make out in absolute sawtooth edging. You? The only videos I've seen are too poor in quality to tell also.

Remember all the shit they said the Foxbat was capable of? Hardly. And their overselling of their aircraft has always doomed them when dealing with the US. Originally they toted the MiG-25 as being a highly maneuverable fighter with a mach 4 capability. Because of this, the US accelerated and enhanced the F-15 Eagle project to match it. When Belenko defected and landed a MiG-25 for us to examine, it turned out to be a fat, heavy, cumbersome reconnaissance aircraft which was poorly constructed. And, it had a laughable 744mi range flying subsonic at low altitude - it was practically useless for all intents and purposes. End result? Superior F-15 fighter - and a bigger problem for Russia. Their paper tiger mentality has always benefited us. In my opinion, anything that gets more F22's into production is good business.

I've seen some other pics with sawtooth edging on the nose gear and weapons bays....

In general, I would have to guess that the stealth characteristics in general favor the front and will eventually fall somewhere in the middle between the F/A-18E/F and JSF.

And will easily fall within the resolution of F22 fighters targeting capabilities.
