The dollar to fun ratio is definitely much better in karting than nearly any other motorsport. Of course if you want to be a top player nationally...you gotta spend the big bucks, but I was able to get into my kart for $2000, and only had to throw a few hundred to get it up to club level spec. It won't be legal for sanctioned rotax challenge events, but I got it to learn so that was never a concern. I will upgrade next year most likely, and only race club in the mean time.

    Here's my CRG Road Rebel:

And here's how the cheap harbor freight trailer all folded up:

Not only is it much cheaper than racing cars, but you're also not too afraid of damaging it to drive it hard. You can be pretty aggressive and even make a little contact without and real damage. Not that you should be making contact all the time...but it's not gonna ruin your kart if it happens.

A guy I work at has two TAG Karts for sale, and will make me a "great deal" on everything including spare parts, tires, stands, and specialty tools.
I think he said they are both 2005 model karts
Motors are IAME Leoparts (both fresh)
      $2500 for everything.

        What chassis?

I would also like to see a list of tools and pics. Doesn't sound too bad though.

$2500 for everything kart related he has..

I think I'm the buyer for that if these are decent karts to learn on.

Tag is great to learn on.

I've never driven that particular engine, but for what he has in chassis, stands and tools alone it's worth it. That is unless they're trashed. Need recent pics

I'm pretty sure those are recent pics, he has stored them for the last few years.
The karts have been sitting on a double stack stand for awhile now because he lost interest in racing.

I'm supposed to go by his house one day this week and check everything out.

                    nice.

just do maintenance stuff and have a blast. you could run both and make sure they are okay then sell one off for half and mitigate the cost.

Then I would lose the ability to say "I'm going to my backup car" if I had an incident. lol

I really haven't put any thought into buying them until I read this thread. It actually sounds like a good time that won't be ridiculously expensive.

Yeah keeping both would be good unless you could get 2K for one. You are going to want spare parts...I eat through sprockets like a moron trying too push harder. Plus my kart setting put the sprocket very low relative to contact angles with the frame and kerbs.

I'll snap some pics of everything and post them up here for opinions before I jump into anything.

Both Chassis and engines are good, just check the karts for cracks at the welds J.I.C.

We race in the rain so set one up for the rain and one for dry just in case of a rain event in the middle of the day.

                            good luck, drive fast !

I ran a 12 year old kart ( won the champion Yamaha Heavy ) and it was fine 'cause I knew how to tune the thing and was happy with it. New don't equal faster.

I'm interested! I don't need two karts. Anyone wanna split it?

I'll sell you one of the karts for $2k.

                                kidding... I'm keeping both.
