I don't recall ever "cording" a tire in 8 years of doing this. I have had two carcass failures but I've never run a tire to the cords, even on the Lemons cars.

Anyway, seems your tire life is measured in minutes instead of days or laps.
Well look at you moneybags! Always on new rubber

I'm one of the cheapest bastards you will meet at the race track, but yes, running at the front has won me a lot of fresh rubber over the years.

The TWS laps were on new Michelin slicks that corded/heat cycled out probably a bit early due to my using factory alignment. I got about 10 sessions out of that set of new slicks. This set mentioned here is a new (but 2 year old discontinued) set of Continental slicks. I surprisingly got about 17 sessions out of those before I heat cycled those out. Even with my slide session, I didn't get any cord, but I knew the tires were shot when I pulled right off the track after sliding around quite a bit (and slowing down about 2 seconds of lap time) and the tires were very hot, but when I pushed into them, there was zero stick at all, it felt like cardboard.

I then took the car over to PST to have them put on another new (but 2 year old discontinued) set of Continentals. When they didn't get to my car in time for the next session, I grabbed it and practiced drifting for that session until I spun out when a Miata spun out in front of me. Not my finest moment. So, I was running 1:24's or so on that session prior to my slide session. First session on Sunday is when I ran the 1:19/1:20 laps, so the fresh slicks picked me up 4-5 seconds.

I do go through tires fairly often. This is probably due to the stock 555rwhp of the LS9 and the effectively stock weight (about 3,500lbs with a 1/4 tank fo gas and me in the car). That combo plus my pretty aggressive driving style means I go through tires fairly often.

That's pretty fast. I had the AI lap record for a long while at 2:00.02. Granted it was on Toyos but felt it was a good lap considering it is all straights.

With my mustang still down for the count with the Trans out at Liberty, I am upgrading the wife's Camaro from 17x9.5" with 275 BFG's, to 17x11's and 315's all around. I'm not sure it will all arrive in time or work, but should be interesting. That is a TON of rubber under a 4th gen with no body mods!

Unsure what the lap time will be but hoping for 56's? We are sitting in 1st place for ST1 at the moment so I am going to make it difficult for the vettes behind us to win it all for the season!

Here's a cleaned-up version of the video with gear added, zoomed, and video tilt fixed.
