  • Mustang SLA

don't know the name brands here, but seems like a smoking deal...

    I have a short / long arm suspension with adapters to fit a Fox body Mustang. The kit sold new for $2800 and is brand new, never installed. It converts the front suspension from strut type to adjustable coil overs. The parts I have are;
-L&R full upper control arm assemblies(all bushings etc..)
-L&R full lower control arm assemblies(all bal joints bushings etc..)
    -L&R coil overs(height adjustable)
    -L&R spindle assemblies
    -L&R tie rods (full set)
all mounting hardware and adapters are included, this is a serious kit cheap!

Any chance that would fit on a New Edge?

edit: website lists all of the SLA kits as '79-'04....Yale, come talk me into this!

I'm curious what kind of dampers those are and what hubs/k-member you need to run.

you could build what's in the kit at smiley's for about $750 as a guess....no k-member and modify the stock spindle. Pretty easy actually.

Personally, I have YET to be sold on an SLA setup being the end all for fox chassis cars. I have been told that SLA is good for 2 seconds over my MM setup....and have yet to see the car to prove it.

Only positive about the SLA I have seen to date is it's cheaper to get good shocks like a penske or moton...but SLA's are a PITA to adjust quickly while at the track.

I would also stay away from the Griggs stuff...nice but way to light and break a lot. The Agent47 setup has proven to be better in reliability, but I am still not convinced I MUST have it.

i emailed him! this was his he response

The dampers are AFCO and the system is a Barts Works. The hubs come with it, standard cobra or mustang brakes fit. The kit fits on a standard K-member

It's one of the original SLA kits...google it and you should find a lot of info on it. Don't expect to find parts because they went out of business 6 or 7 years ago.

I'd say you need to see if a case of beer will convince a certain driving instructor to make a trip to Smiley's with you.

Honestly wouldn't do it on a street car...crappy roads will destroy most lightweight setups.

Maximum Motorsports all the way for the street and track for many years of service.

also, if someone IS interested in this kit..be sure you use a k-member with stock geometry. The MM k-member screws up the geometry as it changes the wheel base and raises the inner pivot of the lower control arms.

So if I already have MM tubular front suspension, but not their k-member, will it mess me up to install one of those?
