I just do ER. The opportunity is there to autocross with different clubs every weekend. My wife made me choose one club because I was gone every weekend and spending thousands on racing slicks. I chose ER because of low entry fees, I get 6 runs, the events are really well organized, there is great efficiency (we were done with 462 runs on course by 2:30), and the event sites are nice. I like ER because it is a non-profit and donates bunches to charity every year.

With some of the other clubs there are hours of delays during the day while they are trying to figure out computer problems orother logistical issues. They run on crappy sites like Lone Star Park and Texas Motor Speedway. You only get 3 or 4 runs. The price is too high. Some charge close to $100 for a membership and entry fees can be as high as $50. I also like the fact that ER uses standard SCCA car classing with 35 or more classes. That means if you show up in a bone stock sn95 vert you will run against a similar car. In the other clubs that have less classes everybody gets lumped in together so you would probably be running against a Z06.

I got pulled over in Krum on the way to the autocross at 6 AM on Sunday morning. The cop was probably bored. He said my trailer was only registered for 4000 pounds. I looked and it is the same price for all trailers up to 6000 pounds so why would it matter what it was registered for? He also needed an inspection sticker because it was over 4500 pounds with the Vert. I seriously doubt that the vert and trailer are over 4500. I'll bet the car is under 3500. Even so, why do they pick some arbitrary 4500 pound lower limit? Why not 4400 or 4600? I've never even heard of a trailer inspection. It's all nanny state BS. At least he only hassled me for 20 minutes and let me go with a warning. The police chief is getting a letter indicating that my tax dollars will be spent somewhere else once I move out of this town.

Seems there is a bulletin out about trailer inspections. Anything rated or having a rolling weight of 4000lbs requires an inspection sticker. I have heard of 100's of folks getting pulled over recently. One buddy twice in one day headed up 35. Sales tax revenue is down boys and girls, got to use the flashing lights to collect more.

Let's not turn this in to an FTP or complaint thread. Let's focus on the subject here.

Most cops are cool. Some even race their cars on weekends. That is why it is frustrating to get hassled by an uncool one. The bad egg that makes them all look bad.
