Our car ran a 12.4 at 112 bone stock straight off the highway.. With a little tuning and possibly a set of radials it should hit the 11's no prob.. with the up and coming plans, it should be very close to the 10's soon!!

Lonestar did one a few months ago that went a 7.30@96. Should be pretty close to the 10s. Auto with not a lot of mods, just the right ones.

A few of my friends went to Maryland this weekend.
The NA standard car ran a 11.45 @109.9

So what is it about this new engine that is producing these great numbers? Is it the cylinder head design? Is the new 4 valve head leaps and bounds better than the 2004 Cobra 4 valve head? Is it the variable cam timing? I can see that improving driveability but once it's to the floor I don't see how it would help. Is it advancement in the processor technology? What's the main ingrediant? Does it just have huge cams with great flowing heads?

It's all of the above. The heads flow great, and the compression is high. And yeah, the variable valve timing allows it to have a pretty aggressive cam profile up top, and still idle like a purring kitten.

i think its a bit of a combo of all the above, plus a transmission that is geared perfectly for the motor.

I have a stroker 5.0L DOHC, and I can tell you the new coyote heads are amazing. They make great curve numbers with variable cam timing, so usually they make a little better torque numbers than i do with the same power with a less aggressive camshaft profile. The intake design is really excellent, with the large front centered throttle body over my side entry.

Also, dont forget the bump up in displacement from 281 to 302 cubes, and the boost in compression up to 11.0:1. Hell, I would be beating those damn power numbers in the coyote if i had friggin 11:1 ! =P
