Not a single thing was done to my car that wasn't functional in a performance aspect.

Faking a loping cam idle to impress friends is a ricer mod. I know what vvt is, I know how it was played with to create the affect, and I could do the same with my car. It doesn't increase power for what he's done. This is the same as adding a turbo tip to the muffler.

I know that is hard to wrap your head around but read it a few times over and you might comprehend what I'm saying.
Apparently I am ignorant. What part of a Cobalt SS is performance? I thought the whole idea behind the car was to appeal to teens? No self respecting guy would putt around in a Cobalt and call it a "performance" anything. Sell it and buy a real car before you find yourself sucking dick for attention on RKC.

I'm sorry you two guys are too insecure in your masculinity and can't see where having a 320+whp with under $400 in mods in a car that weighs 2,900lbs and cost $22k new would be something fun to have, while still getting 30+mpg. Your loss, not mine. I don't feel the need to rip out chest hair when i drive something under 8 cylinders, or something that isn't powered by diesel. Sounds like your inner Barney Franks are trying to bust out.

I get the point you are trying to make - form follows function. But in this case I don't think changing the sound of the car is a ricer mod at all. It sounds better than stock in my opinion. I like my cars to sound like a hot rod personally and the fact that can be done with the '11 is pretty neat even if it doesn't have any performance gain to do it.

A ricer mod is a FWD car with a spoiler on the rear, kinda like what the Cobalt SS has on it.
He's faking a cam. When you put a spoler on a car, you aren't faking a spoiler. People might call it ugly, but you can't call it a fake spoiler. It might not be in the taste that someone would like, but that doesn't make it fake.

Yes, he likes the sound, that's obvious. It's also obvious it's being done solely for the sound, to fake an aftermarket part that the person doesn't have on the car. That's a rice mod.

The big difference between this and a lot of other VVT setups is that the ecm has control over all 4 cams instead of just the intake or the exhaust as with a lot of prior systems. It's not like the VTEC on SI and type S stuff honda uses for extra "breathing" in the higher rpms, or a lot of the others that used VVT to mimic EGR valve function. The advantage from a tuning aspect is that the tuner can tailor the VVT to mimic different cam profiles at different points. Hence the lopey idle with no performance gains, or on the flip side it could have stock type idle but add more duration to help with top end breathing. It opens a whole new aspect for tuners in a lot of ways I think. Oh and Wide band o2 sensors have been used for many years now, not so much on the mainstream stuff, but a lot of your Jap and Euro cars have had them. The innovate setup I use has a bosche sensor Oreilly's keeps in stock for a common VW.

                The op should have said

Hey guys, listen to these cams I just had installed. Never say its a fake idle, I can pull a vacuum hose off to make my ole 5.0 sound like that

                Sounds badass though

$22,000 for that piece of shit

30mpg? Who gives a fuck? Are you that broke that you have to worry about gas money?

I see the point you're trying to make, but in my opinion it's just a sound preference. Vette's can add a mild to wild switch (or just pull the fuse) to the factory exhaust. Does that make it a "ricer mod" because it's not an aftermarket cat back? What about people that put flowmasters on everything. They flow less than some factory mufflers, people add them for sound... "Rice mod"?

I do, and again, you're a goddamned fool if you just want to throw money away cause you're worried about another guy thinking you're gay or not. Are you saying that if you didn't drive something manly, someone would think you're gay? Sounds like you have other issues you need to work on if your vehicular wrapping defines your masculinity.

                      No, you stupid fuck.
When someone puts a flowmaster on, they're putting it on for the sound the muffler makes. They're not trying to trick someone into thinking they have a borla when they have a flowmaster.

The video above is someone mimicking a sound so people think it is running lopey aftermarket cams. Where is the difficulty in understand that the owner is trying to fake something he doesn't have, just so people hear his car and say "Oh, he has cams, that's so cool!" aka, ricer mod.

This shouldn't be a hard concept to understand.

I'm stating a fact: He has modded the car, to produce a sound that an aftermarket component provides, which his car is not equipped with. That is a ricer styled mod. AKA, stickers on a car for parts that aren't on the car. Whistling tip on a muffler to make people think you have a turbo.

Is that what you do when you hear a car with a cam/cams?? LOL What a little ricer queer

Does that hurt your feelings? Maybe you should contact the owner and cry to him. Who the fuck cares what the guy does with his car? Who cares if you think he has a cam or not? A stock 5.0 would drag your piece of shit Cobalt with the "fake cam"

Care to find something recent? As in the last couple years. Not from 2008. Cobalt is like a swatch watch. Use it till it breaks then throw it away and go buy another,

You seem to care, a lot. I called it a ricer mod, and you went crazy on the defensive.
While sounding like a moron too, but i'm willing to bet that's socially acceptable for you around the camp fire with the sweaty pillows.
lol at the people getting butt hurt for a ricer mod being called out for what it is. waaaaaaaa, little bitches. And then the ensuing ignorant responses from you typical ignorant domestic loving hicks. I'll kick your ass at the next Nugent concert!

i agree with your statement here.

i think the idea of "tuning a cam sound" is rather cool, just for the simple fact it can be done. i wont do it to my car.

You better watch out, someone might come in here and spit chaw on your shoes and call you a fag.
.....which i actually believe is a reverse way for him to hunt out men to bang. He's waiting for the one to say "Yea, so?" Then he'll pm them for rest area directions, or invite them to the glory hole he hosts out of his out house.
