Help a 1st timer on the track....

Where is this going on at? I'd like to run my car as well, will also be my first time.

Yeah, I will definitely listen to y'all and just take a few dry runs down the track to get a feel. I know I'll end up getting nervous at the line, even if I try not to.

The first person to the line is the winner. And even in bracket racing they delay the start on the faster car to make it the same. But the point is the first few times out you don't need to worry about winning a race. Your main focus shoudl be getting used to runnign on the track and doing so safely. Once you get a little stressed or feel rushed you can easily make a mistake and damage your car, hurt yourself, or even hurt others. All we are saying is until you get used to the process don't worry about actually "racing".

I couldn't have put it better myself. Some of the best advice that was said in this thread. Take ur time and get use to it.

Don't worry about reaction time your first couple passes. Just get up there and get comfortable... worry about driving your car more than getting a good reaction. Once you get your et and mph's consistent... then work on my fine tuning your driving skills... how far to roll into the beams, launch rpm, when to leave the tree ( different for every car and driver) and proper shift points.

Only if you're running faster than 8.50 I believe.. or 14.00 in the 1/4.

I am thinking about going. I havent been to the track in 5 years and I used to go twice a week every week. Working for a living sucks!

Remember the rev limiter is there to let you know when to shift... so wait for it
