Started in the early 80's at Mark IV, spent a lot of time behind Miller, my favorite was Garden Acres, that was safer and better racing. The Maverick was fun, made lots of money with it, everyone underestimated a SBF/nitrous back then. The Mustang, not so much, the 460 pretty much ruined that for me. It fooled a few, 351c emblems, and I didn't correct people if they thought is was one. I pretty much quit street racing after Lee's accident. Plus, a high 10 second car ain't nothing today!sigpic

Garden Acres? You mean when we did it on the service road of I-35? Safer? Yeah, if you think a full run with cars on both sides of the road was safe. My best memory of that clusterfuck was one night when the cops finally caught on and tried to arrest/ticket everyone there. Had to be a couple of hundred cars. They came by, one by one, and told us to move down the road and park and wait for them. Eventually, they were still by Garden Acres and we were nearly down to Crowley Rd, so we just kept on driving. No tickets that night.
Some of the "funnest" street racing back then was done over on Campus Drive by TCJC. We could usually talk the campus cops into racing with us.

Garden Acres kind of died when they built the big gas station. It was a massive parking lot that I thought was intended for people to congregate and for a few months that's what happened. Eventually though the police blocked it in and started writing everyone tickets.
Northwest Hwy in front of the liquor store used to be the best racing. Las Calinas police would block off their side but Dallas didn't seem to care. That and if they did show up you'd have a good mile head start and plenty of ways to get away. That all ended with a drunk plowing through the crowd though.

Remember the Dallas / Garland Airport Runway. For about a month. That was good times until the cops ran everyone off. Then they dug it up in sections.
Collins Rd in South Garland ,Mesquite near the power plant. 4 tickets in one night just about cost me everything. Comp. of Speed, Driving in the wrong lane, Speeding, doing a burnout.
$800.00 in 1976. Garland Judge did let me pay it out @$50.00 a week, after I saw him in person with the cash.

Seb's high class.
He'll mow your grass.
He'll kick your ass.
And while his kidney stones pass,
He'll piss in a glass!

Man you guys are bringing up awesome memories... I was in high school going out to Regal Row, Royal Lane, Luna, NW Hwy. It was like the circuit. Cops would come to one spot and we just make the rotation till everyone was tired of racing. I can remember Regal Row being back up three wide under the bridge and up the hill.

Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?
You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.
