  • Talk about bad luck , HMP 275

Went to HMP yesterday morning, left my house at 6:00 am, we arrived there at 9:45. Unloaded, talked with some of the guys there in the Ultra Street class. Come to realize I brought the wrong tires. They don't allow the "pro" radial with a power adder. Long story short we worked it out to a pill limit on my part for this one race. Pretty thankful for that, it was my fault after all for not paying attention.

The event was suppose to start at Noon with first round qualifying. It didn't. After eating lunch we decided to go see what was going on. They have called a drivers meeting for another class twice now. After standing around, now 2 and one single car hadn't been down the track. They announce that they have made a decision to cancel the race. Come back March 29th and they'll "try" again.

As you can imagine, there are a lot of upset people. I loaded my truck up and headed back to the DFW area. About 30 miles into the trip back home, we called Northstar and talked with them and we ended the night there. Made two decent fast passes and split.

There was no real reason to give up on the track that early. Said water was coming through the track, yet they raced the night before. Pretty disappointed to say the least. I put 633 miles on my tow rig , filled up twice, spent 135 dollars to race the event, had 9 total people with me at 20 a pop, 4 full nitrous bottles, 10 gallons of fuel and two ice chest full.

And ended up going from the DFW to the gulf and back to the red river to make 4 passes so I could sleep better.

Cliff notes: I spend a lot of money, wasted a lot of time to race.

Bright side: I went faster then I've ever been and it was worth every penny and mile I drove yesterday.

That sucks! I would have been pissed.

I can't believe you didn't know the tire rule though.

Of course I didn't know my cylinder heads were illegal up until a month ago. I'm just glad I didn't load up to race to figure it out.

So what was the reason they gave for not running the race? You didn't get your entry fee back?

Water was seaping through the track. No, no entry fee given back. Just rain checks

Like I said, they raced the night before. I think it was due to a low car count for the 5.80 index race that was to pay 10,000.

sounds a bit like our weekend, but with broken parts.
