How about a ditch! Call it irrigation 8 foot wide 4 foot deep all the way from the rr tracks to the gravel road. Use the dirt to fill up 55 gallon barrels 2 or 3 deep and dump the rest of the dirt on top. Think of it as a moat with a retaining wall. A back hoe and some barrels is all you need.
I recondition headlights on most cars for $50.00. If interested shoot me a pm.

Welllllllllllllllllllllll
I MUST GO GET SOME KETCHUP,SALT AND PEPPER AND ANYTHING ELSE THAT WILL MAKE THE CROW IM HAVING FOR DINNER TAISTE BETTER....
i google earthed it as well and just flat didnt realize that the cart track was THAT close to the end...........so therefore i will admit,HONESTLY,that im not sure anything short of piling something at the end of the track IS going to stop a car......EXCEPT for gene to tear up about 80 ft of the shut down area and making a peegravel pit......and then hope like hell if anyone cant stop, they they will ditch their car.....i still bet anyone having top end shutdown probs is going to steer clear of any obstruction that is put up if at all possible to avoid hurting THEMSELVES..unfortunately,i dont think at the heat of the moment that your going to think about what COULD happen, your just gonna be trying to stop your car.

to your point, yes, I have had the brakes fail on a race car at 135mph. It wasn't fun. The facility where this happened had a large paved area and an even larger area of gravel for run off. Also at no point was there a problem of flying onto an adjacent property or killing someone that wasn't part of our race. This is called professional operation of a racing facility. Drag strips all over the country "design" catch fences, barriers and even sand traps to whoa down racers that have mechanicals or even drunks that fail to realize they have finished racing. All NSD has is a section of Armco at the end of the paving. I'm speculating here, but they DON'T have a sand trap because it sounds like they would need a tractor to constantly pull racers out of it and knowing the drag racing scene, they would probably bitch about the gravel tearing up their car if they go into it. Sand traps also require constant maintenance.
Again, I'm just not getting why the Kart track would EVER be expected to put up safety barriers to stop/protect NSD racers. That would be like a gun range telling the neighboring child day care center to put up a backstop or ballistic wall so the ranges customers don't shoot children next door.
I get you don't want to hit a barrier at the end of the track....so be a responsible racer and have adequate equipment and be smart. Also sounds like you need to fire your shoot packer and buy some real brakes/pads/fluid.
sorry, I've liked NSD for years as it was close to home but they seriously need to address this issue instead of ignoring it like they have for far too long.

Hey guys, everyone is getting a little too keyboard-ish on this. I know BluCoupe.....he's a damned good guy and if you search the old site he's been around a while...Jackass Racing. He's a good buddy of mine and he isn't out here trying to say he's a fucking go-cart murderer.
Just think for a moment what's being proposed here.....it's essentially, let's make sure we kill sub 4-sec car drivers.....seriously, these guys in no way WANT to hurt or kill anyone, especially kids! I haven't read the whole thread but from what I am seeing on a glance, the suggestions here are to build basically a brick wall (shipping container, semi trailer, etc.) that will for sure stop them, but also very likely at the cost of their lives too. Seriously? there are alternative options being offered here.....in the end no one wants to hurt anyone else and/or hurt themselves.
You guys are talking a lot of shit out your ass when I believe this thread was started by the OP to just to find a solution...not to start, yet, another DFWM pissing match.
How about we talk real plausible solutions instead of name calling and band-wagoning....just this once....no?
The energy would be better used finding a REAL solution that fits the safety of BOTH sides.

Just seemed as though he came in here in defense of NSD and the drag racers, and everyone gets defensive at times. In my opinion the kart track has justified cause for concern, and they've been there longer.
I think the problem is that very few that race at NSD realize exactly how close the two tracks are, and he admitted that after looking at Google Earth.
I also think it's pretty shitty that NSD refuses to acknowledge the situation, and hasn't offered solutions or to help with the cost. ANY solution is going to be costly. Nobody wants racers from either side to get hurt. But I think the kart track is well within their rights to put up anything they like, drag racer safety be damned, if NSD isn't going to be a reasonable neighbor and split the cost of a safer solution.Originally posted by BradMBut, just like condoms and women's rights, I don't believe in them.Originally posted by LeahIn other news: Brent's meat melts in your mouth.
