like i said,WHEN has this ever happened...??? IT HASN'T.... you say it MIGHT, you find those on monkeys ass's. ya'll go ahead and build u a giant steel wall 5 ft thick that will border the whole drag strip property so nothing can penetrate it,spend $15,000,000.00 to do it,i could give a shit............my whole point was,JUST DIG A FUCKIN HOLE,FILL IT WITH PEE GRAVEL and be done with it,cheapest way out...or u could always move your playground elsewhere
My exact thoughts reading his post. If my car can't stop by the end of the strip for whatever reason, I would rather put my car into a barrier than chance running over an innocent kid on a kart, and I don't even like kids.
Did you graduate high school? He's already stated that the kart track was there before the drag strip was. Do the rest of us a favor and go get a vasectomy before you dillute the gene pool further.

WELL,u do have a point as to how they get through the fence with that much shutdown area,i would think you could let off the throttle at the line and coast to a stop....but i gaurantee you if i lose my brakes for whatever reason,im gonna be driving around your "barrier" to keep from tearing my car up,and just dodge your go carts, how many have been hit anyways in the last 20 yrs that racing has been going on there..?? yeah,i know...ZERO....
So you're serious? If the brakes fail on your car, you would prefer to chance killing someone on a go-kart than take the crash that your POS caused in the first place? Get outta here with that garbage, you dumb motherfucker.
When the government pays, the government controls.
Why not just put up a highway cable barrier between the properties?
Now that's an idea we have not thought of. WE will look into that !
Thanks !!!!
Just for your info:
1. Jet dragster thur the fence while barrelrolling to catch fire and catch the hay bails we were using then on fire and then blowing up.
2. Fueled altered into the barrier over the top and end up upside down 20 / 30 feet from the track.
3. Late model Chevy truck with drunk inside, never lifted, into barrier, broke it in 3 spots.
4. Early Dodge into the fence stopped at trunk with the fence hanging on its ass. Missed the barrier 100%.
5. The latest was the Camaro thru the fence as said.
That's not all of them, just the one I can think of now.
Yes, we have had ZERO injuries. I have seen cars spin right at the end of the track several times in a last ditch effort to stop the car. I'm on the flagstand ! Right now there is a bent spot in the fence that the dragstrip owner denighs that anything happened but its direction of bend says another opps happened. No one was there to note it.
I know that no one runs into the fence on purpouse, but it's racing. If anything can go wrong it will at the worst time.
someone sticky/archive this thread so the lawyers can fast track to a settlement when the unthinkable happens.
the highway cable thing is a great idea, however, when it's hit, it damages a large portion as it's all tied together. It's also designed MOSTLY for a glancing hit, not a direct intersecting hit. might get a drag car cut up pretty bad hence liability on the Kart track.
Personally, I like the idea of sea containers that are scrap. seems 3 or 4 on either side of the dragstrip barrier might be all that is needed but that is nearly $20k. I'd also contact denton county roads and see if they have some K-wall to donate on behalf of the kiddos! TX DOT might also like to get involved if you pitch a child/teen car control program they can sponsor by putting up the barriers.
Hell, wonder if you could get 10-12 old junk cars from that auto graveyard or just hit up craigslist for non-running cars and park them along there with flat tires and empty gas tanks. Over time, you could park them two rows deep but if they started holding water, the skeeters are a problem.
Here is an idea. What about using those barrels and working with a local concrete supplier that can wash out their trucks into the barrels, then figure out a way to transport back to the track. nearly free concrete then tie the barrels together with armco welded to them. Or hell, just fill the barrels full of dirt and seal them up?
Lots of ideas but most all deal with little cost and lots of mass!!!
sonicblue has an idea....
you fucktards make it sound like i want TO GO RUN OVER some go carts, negative on that...sounds to me like ya'll just wanna build a giant unpenetrable wall to prevent what no one would want to see, including me....i guess you can pile all the junk you want to at the end to stop whatever may try to come through it....i was just trying to come up with something cheap and EFFECTIVE that would 99 times out of 100,stop a car.
i know whats at the end of the track now and if for some strange reason my chute and brakes dont stop me,your damn right im going to steer around it to prevent MY ASS from getting hurt, like it or not. i can GAURANTE that if ANY of you had a car that was running 125 plus mph and your brakes failed and you came running up on the piles of dirt and piece of pipe that was running across the end the last time i was down there, you would do the same thing.....DIG A FUCKING PIT 1 1/2 TO 2 FT DEEP,FILL IT WITH SMALL PEA GRAVEL and not worry about it.....or pile some shit up down there, let someone hit it and die, then cry because someone sued the land owner and he had to sell it to pay the settlement
i gaurantee you if i lose my brakes for whatever reason,im gonna be driving around your "barrier" to keep from tearing my car up,and just dodge your go carts

Hey man, go fuck yourself.
When you race, you take a risk of hurting YOURSELF and destroying YOUR equipment. This is being done to keep YOUR piece of shit car from hurting ANYONE ELSE not involved with YOUR race.
Don't want to wad your car up and hurt yourself? Build a better car.
Just google earthed it, Damn I didn't realize the cart track was that close to the run off! I have used that second turn off a few times, but it was at knight and I couldn’t see it. I'd be nervous too.
Gravel pit won't work. Would have to be 20 yards deep ( width ) plus the 2 feet depth of the gravel. You don't see gravel traps that are narrow they are always real wide. Cars have got to get in the gravel before they slow.
We don't have the space between the fence ( barrier ) and the track fence. We are at the minimum distance by IKF ( International Karting Foundation ) for our turn 9 edge of track to fence now. They provide the insurance. We also have to have a road (access ) to the back side of the Kart track for an ambulance or fire truck and thats why we left the narrow road near the barrier. The orginal lay out would have left out the access road out but our insurance say 100 % around the track access required.
The highway cable won't work as Aggie 97 said, it's not for direct impacts. It also has to be repaired each time it's used. The drag strip has not fixed the fence poles that got bent and missing from the last crash. Who would do the maintaince on a gravel pit, keeping it clear, replaceing the gravel, ect. The dirt around our pit runner seams to crack open and suck down gravel like it's nothing. 200 yards of Gravel pit is a huge amount of gravel to buy and maintain thru the year as it would have to streach all the full width of the problem area.

I'm trying to be civil here but explain again why the Kart track should be building a safety shutdown area required to keep NSD patrons safe?
to your point, yes, I have had the brakes fail on a race car at 135mph. It wasn't fun. The facility where this happened had a large paved area and an even larger area of gravel for run off. Also at no point was there a problem of flying onto an adjacent property or killing someone that wasn't part of our race. This is called professional operation of a racing facility. Drag strips all over the country "design" catch fences, barriers and even sand traps to whoa down racers that have mechanicals or even drunks that fail to realize they have finished racing. All NSD has is a section of Armco at the end of the paving. I'm speculating here, but they DON'T have a sand trap because it sounds like they would need a tractor to constantly pull racers out of it and knowing the drag racing scene, they would probably bitch about the gravel tearing up their car if they go into it. Sand traps also require constant maintenance.
Again, I'm just not getting why the Kart track would EVER be expected to put up safety barriers to stop/protect NSD racers. That would be like a gun range telling the neighboring child day care center to put up a backstop or ballistic wall so the ranges customers don't shoot children next door.
I get you don't want to hit a barrier at the end of the track....so be a responsible racer and have adequate equipment and be smart. Also sounds like you need to fire your shoot packer and buy some real brakes/pads/fluid.
sorry, I've liked NSD for years as it was close to home but they seriously need to address this issue instead of ignoring it like they have for far too long.
