There were several problems with the fastest list.

*It was a pain in the ass to keep up with
*No one was ever happy
*People with race cars were at the top
*People at the bottom bitched about the ones at the top
*dragsters wanted to play
*people wanted a list for street cars
*people wanted a list for race cars
*people wanted a list for cars on street tires
*people wanted a list for cars on slicks
*people wanted a list for cars with a/c, p/s and p/b
*people wanted a list for cars >4000lbs
*people wanted a list for cars <4000lbs


....and the list goes on and on.

Why not start early? the fastest list was never going to make everybody happy, especially when the guys with door slammer race cars and even some dragsters (like Brooks mentioned) wanted to be on it.

I'd personally be OK with another fastest list set-up (1/8 & 1/4), but it would be a top-20 list and no holds barred. Car, engine size, power adder, tire, fuel, weight and a time slip.

The fastest list is just a Big Wiener competition, anyways. The fast boys know who they are and the ones that want to race for money know who to talk to
