  • DQ'd in Houston??

    Why? What happened?

  • #2
Are you talking about Tony(fast408)? I heard it was cause it had front runners and not radials for front tires.

Spoke with Tony last night. The second place guy ( now winner ) complained about the front tires not being DOT approved. While I can understand his point, but safety has to be looked at as well. The second place guy was only trapping in the 130 range where as Tony was trapping in the 170's. You have to have tires for that speed or you could possibly end up turtle or dead.

Oh well, it will be 100% legal and hopefully a trip to a bigger race next year.

That sucks. I understand that rules are rules, but that kinda shit Kepler me from doing any competitive races for real money.

Really? wow what are the 165/80/15's rated for anyway 70mph haha.

That should have been thrown out, and tony should have won.

Plus if you read the NMRA's rules it is vague as to if the front tires have to be DOT approved. It only talks about the rear tires.

Awe, man, that's does bite!! Over the front tires, yet it passed tech inspection...I wonder if NMRA is beginning to stand for Not Many Racing Again...

Yeah, it was BS - but probably for the better. We had issues all weekend with the boost controller and couldn't see 'high' boost for more than a second or two. It ran 8.22@171 with 8psi for the last 3 seconds of the run.

The track was TERRIBLE and they only prepped for the pro-mods and the 7 Unlimited street cars. We came back later and made a time trial and dropped over a tenth in the 60' but had the controller problem.

Judging by what I saw this weekend, it will go easy 7.80's@178ish... We'll get them next season..

I'd also like to add that, while MT's 'dot' tires aren't rated for very much, those 200MPH guys had them (I looked). Fuck that!!

There's a LOT of shit that wasn't 'legal', such as wheels that aren't DOT approved, short exhaust, no catalytic converters, etc.. but since it didn't affect the 'winner' THEY didn't get called on it..

Tom was down spectating and told me of the track issues...
Did the winner grab a Wally?? Seeing the 10.145 win it, makes me wish I had been able to get my car down there.

I don't think there's a wally involved, there wasn't last year. Did you ever get it put back together??

Turbostang, good to meet you and Fast408 Friday night.

I actually blew the motor on my nitrous pass that night. Threw a rod. Looks like 2 rods and pistons are trashed, I think the block is OK, pan and pickup trashed. Haven't pulled the heads yet.
