  • well after 7 years it made a pass

After blowing up the motor back in 04 I think. we took a whole new route. B
efore it was just a stock 302 with hyper crappy pistons with a s trim. That was a fun little motor.

Now its a dart 331 with a turbo and FAST. Still have the same aod in there.

Big thanks goes out to my dad for getting it there. He is the main mechanic in this build. Also thanks to Josh at JKS performance for tuning and questions on some things. Also thanks goes out to Brooks for the turbo plumbing and questions we have ask him.

Still have a long ways to go. Its running on low low boost with pump gas and I still need to get a boost controller one of these day. Not looking to run in any classes , just for fun.

Josh at JKS Performance is fantastic! That is the only place I would let touch my car. Glad to hear everything running well for you.

thanks man, well nothing to brag about. Lol first pass leaving off idle, just testing it out amd it was a 8.8@93mph 2.6 lmao. Then got it to runa 8.2 off the t brake. Only brake up to 2000 though. doesnt get into boost til about 4500rpm. Well that what it felt like.

Josh said the converter is way to tight, its robbing the power. On the dyno was only seeing about 10psi right now

You have to be careful leaving at that low of an RPM on turbo car! With the RPM's so low, the car will be a slug, come on strong and start swaying as the car comes into power, and in some cases spin the tires. Watch the video below for my first pass - perfect example.

If your car still has power brakes, I wouldn't be discounting the converter just yet. You have to get that thing WAY up to 3500 or so before you even consider going into the beams. Transbrake should be up near 4000 or so for that car/setup.

Glad to see you got it going, but be careful - Less is not always good.

Is that with the 98/88 Brooks?

Good to see you got the car back running Brandon! You'll be hooked on turbos once you get the 2 step/launch figured out.

yea it does come out like a slug. And it comes on pretty strong. Not nearly as strong as yours though.

No the car does not have power brakes.

Im still not even for sure on how to launch this thing yet. My first pass, when I pulled up, I tried to stall it up some just using the footbrake. The brakes would not hold and just push it though. Guess thats why it was a 2.6 60 ft lmao.

The next pass I tried out the transbrake, it did not want to go higher than 2000 on the brake. And that pass I got the 8.2 with a 2.1 60ft .

My car won't even come up to the two step on the spring, you have to turn the boost controller on.

If your brakes aren't holding it, you likely don't have a proportioning valve, or yours is way out of adjustment. You'd need to bias it towards the rear quite a bit. You'll be suprised how much difference it makes.

If you hit the button, and mat the gas from near idle, or anywhere under 0psi (in vacuum) it will not come up on boost, I cant think of any turbo car that will make it to the limiter - and those that do, take 10-12 seconds....and of course, if the tune is jacked in some form or fashion, it won't come up no matter what you do.
