  • Street/Strip tire for modded 2012?

It's about time to replace the rears, again, and I need some input. I've run as bad as a 9.2 because of tractin issues, and a well as a 7.93 but still spinning. Best 60ft of 1.92.

What size would be best for a street car that goes to the 1/8 mile weekly? I have stock 18x8's still with Nitto NT05's size 245/45 currently with lca's, relocation brackets, 3.73's and other bolt ons. It is an A6 btw.

I have no experience with any other tires except these nittos and stock ones. I'd really appreciate the help

I've had great luck with MT drag radials, lots of Low 1.8 and a few low 1.7 60' times in my 3,600lbs car. I had even better 60's (1.61) with BFG drag radials but they didn't last for shit on the street. The mt's have gone triple the mileage that the BFG's did and are WAY better in the rain.

Okay so the mt's last a bit longer than the bfg's. By triple the mileage, I'm guessing around 10k out of a set? These nt05's have about 12k on them wi around 5k left. I am dissapointed with the wear that these exhibit. That 1.61 is a great time man. What size wheel/tire are you running?

Edit: they will fit fine. Any idea of where I can find a good deal on a set?

Give us a call at the shop. We can typically get good deals on tires.

I got a little over 4k miles out of the bfgs. The mt's are sitting right at 12k now and are on their death bed

            BFG's were 295/35/18

            Mt's are 305/35/18

From what I understand the mt's are a shit ton better on an auto car and the BFG's work well on a stick car. Mine is a stick car with a shitty driver so take my times with a grain of salt.

Awesome! I'd be pissed to only get 4k out of a set, damn. Thanks for your help, I'm going to go ahead and grab some MT's.

Yeah, I was pissed but I wasn't exactly nice to them. The mt's have been great tires and won't be shy to buy another pair.

It would really be better to have a set of wheels for the track. As much as those huge tires cost. I will gladly change some tires at the track.
