The teams that race this class deserve a great deal of respect. To accomplish the times they run with the restrictions placed on them is no easy task. As far as watching something more exciting, I guess there is only top sportsman and pro-mod. That's right, how many monthly outlaw ten 5 races are there still in the area? Pretty sure a few cars showed up and killed that class.
As for Outlaw 275, how long till a few cars show up and run away with it to. Rules = parity and longevity of a racing class. How many of the 5.teen and .twenty cars are going to keep showing when the limited street cars realize they can break even money wise to show up and "test" on a small tire? As far as the racers mentioned, pretty sure they have tube chassis cars on larger tires and one other is currently changing his program to race x275. I doubt big name racers like Greathouse will show and try to be competitive on a hot greasy local track just because you and your buddies want them to. Or wait, maybe they will to try and win back the fuel cost for making the trip? lol.
As far as Yates heads, lol, they have been outlawing them in class racing since the old FFW days... If you can build inline heads that flow as well, why not do it and put them on your car? Win some races with them and prove your point, might even sell some of them... Or you might just take the weight limitation offered to allow you the Yates heads and show them what your car is capable of? Surely a knowledgable builder such as yourself can put a weight bar in your car somewhere.
Just remember, tracks like to book races that have cars that show up and race, yes even index and bracket classes have fans that go and watch. I am sure people will continue to watch all aspects of drag racing whether or not you and your buddy think its the coolest or not.
Also I hope you are not trying to imply you have run a 4.50 with a 1.0 60ft on a 275 tire?

Congratulations Tex275 on your rule changes! I personally hope it allows more cars to gain interest in racing with you and keeps the interest of the many that currently race with you. As i prefer to watch the last of the heads up racing small tire classes here locally!

Like I said no clue, Yates heads and canted valve heads have always been allowed in FFW. We used a set if C302b heads back in 1994. If you knew anything about forced induction, you would know that the head was is not the limiting factor. So to put a stupid rule like that in is rediculous. If they are not allowed for a forced induction car they shouldn't be allowed on a nitrous car either.

It's back to the drawing board for me. My little 82mm doesn't have enough in it to run a 4.

Travis, I am surprised on the heads. I would call them. I called them about running my 82, and they were more than willing to work with me.

Had this conversation the other day with a fellow 275 racer. I was asking about an outlaw radial class with 315's. Most tracks can't/won't pay to have two separate classes/payouts.

Why not use John Sears rules . Seems to work where small tire racing is king .

WIth George you never know what he'll do!

The mother fucker told me I could run my Cleveland setup in true street and that he would like to check it out. I screen printed the thread and pm's on the old and new FFW website. Andy Dallas (I think is his name) corrected George after I talked to him for about two weeks about the setup. Got the car ready to take to FFW houston and then he tells me that I can't run it and then I get mad and told him he needed to make the rules more clear (now they are) back in 2001 the rules stated no big blocks (cleveland is not a big block) and no yates style heads (cleveland is canted valve like yates but factory production). So that is why I asked - before I spent thousands trying to get it ready in a short time. He told me since it was a factory iron head I could run it. Then changed his tune once Andy told him that was not correct. Wouldn't you think the person running an event would not the rules. Told me if I came up with $10,000 I could run it in true street since there were no sponsors for cleveland products so and that is the only way he would change the rules.

After this he changed it to say that no clevelands and no cleveland heads. Also told me that If I tried to run it in true street that he would have me would physical remove me from the track himself (I laughed my ass off). So I didn't take my car to Houston - but I went and talked to Mr. Klass in person and Mr. Tough guy walked the other way fast when I wanted to have a calm conversation about the problem and when he didn't want to talk I asked him I would like to see him peronsally remove me. Needless to say he was off and running in his golf cart quickly.

I only debate you because I would really like to see more cars in these types of classes around here. It is great racing to watch for sure. Why not lobby to fit in with a weight penalty and see how competitive you are form there? If you are not competitive I am sure that the guys would listen to you.

First of all your talking about True Street not an actual racing class per say. I also think you are confusing Yates heads as being canted. Old style Yates C3 like mine are not canted. So not all Yates heads are. So explain to me rwhy they have this super huge adavantage over running them on a NOS combo. Its also bullshit that you have to add weight just because you have them, on any combo for that matter. Its like they are saying if a car shows up with Yates heads O MY GOD HES GUARANTEED to win.

I hope you correct me if I am wrong, but do those heads not have rasied runner ports? I am sure the rule is not to hurt the average racer's combo, but you of all people know the true potential of a high port canted valve head. Again, lobby to allow your combo and get your dog in the hunt. I am sure it is easier to then lobby for more once you are in the class and racing than it is to say, I might show if you allow this or that.
It would really be cool to see your car run around here as I used to have your magazine articles on my wall when I was a kid. Even if you think my favorite class of the past isn't really a racing class...

My thoughts exactly. I apologize if you thought I was saying it should only be one class. My remarks were a rebuttle to the posts claiming that the rules of tex275 should be done away with. The op posted to mention a rules change, I assume not to hear about how this and that affects cars that were not built to compete in this class in the first place. Or how it is boring to watch what they work so hard to achieve...
