RIP Joe Wilson

Joe Wilson of Joe Wilson Race Cars died last Friday. Many people in the north Texas racing scene knew him. He shared the same building as Kim Barr for years before moving on to another location.

I got a call today telling me that Joe went through a nasty divorce 2 years ago and immediately went into the bottle real hard. So last Friday he drives his explorer to the top of the high 5 (635 & 75), turns on his hazzard lights, pops the hood and then throws a note in the front seat and pretended that he was on the Titanic.

Fucking horrible way to go. Never had a woman fuck me up that bad. I guess with alcohol involved, it'll make you do dumb shit. Joe was a real cool dude and was truly a good person. He didn't have the best business ethics at certain times in his career but that doesn't make you a bad guy.

Not in the racing game anymore. Kevin told me when he called yesterday. He knows that Joe, Kim and I used to talk a bunch. It's fucking sad to say the least. We've lost a lot of good dudes over the years. Nick, Ubil, Ballew and countless others.
