93 octane does make a difference as the CPU adds timing which increases HP and TQ.
I have been watching and listening (reading) and a oil seperator/CAI/tune adds 55HP and 40TQ and a 1/4 time of = 12.4 @ 115 this was also with street tires and a 2.xxxx 60ft time.
I plan on taking my car to Manny, he has an auto like us and has a nice tune for them. It seems the CAI and tune really wake these cars up. The exhaust is pretty efficient so unless you want sound they really dont add much HP at least not for the money that they are asking for the bolt-on systems. Of course if you are going blower than you will need to open up the exhaust.

i'd say the main restriction in the exhaust is the cats.

my car put down 387 @ the tire with a CAI/email tune.

today it put down 413 @ the tire. It has an O/R x-pipe, magnaflows in addition to the CAI/email tune. The tune was revised for the X-pipe. So there is power there, though i agree, not as much as one would think.

26hp is cool, but not 1k cool, at least not in my book. Of course to each his own some guys want to hear the exhaust, my Cobra is plenty loud my '12 is my daily so its not that important to me to have loud exhaust. I guess my point is that on a NA car there are other mods to achieve more HP than exhaust, now on a 03/04 - 07/12 GT500 Cobra, full exhaust will add 50+hp.

Well i wanted to add power and some sound, but not have the car overly loud. Mission accomplished.
Considering anything that makes power costs $300 or more, its hard to make decent power without spending the cash.

Of course the cars that come from the factory with a blower will make more with a better exhaust...the same concept would apply to a 5.0 with a blower and a stock exhaust.

87 octane is not your friend. I would guess 1.5 mph in the 1/8 there. I've run a best mph of 90.5 in the 1/8th just a few weeks ago. I think the conditions were quite good that day though, considering... I've run 87.5 or so in the summer with no mods. As a side those stock mufflers have a lot of restriction. I built my own muffler delete and in the process hacked up the stock mufflers. They're quite restrictive with the baffling and the tubing. I have 3" piping in place of the old mufflers and it feels like I picked up a few ponies.

As the proof in the pudding, I ran a 12.8 at 113 few weeks ago with the muffler mod. Best mph that day was a 113.5.

I had a whole response that just disapeared... oh well. First off, 87 octane ain't your friend. I understand times are tight, but if you want the best performance and want to see how you stack up with other stockers, put the premium stuff in it. Second, i don't know what the cats look like inside, but the stock mufflers look quite restrictive. In the process of making my own muffler delete i hacked up the stock mufflers... all the baffling and tubes... exhaust should have arrows to show it how to get out... If anyones interested, 14 bucks and a buddies welder and grinder, some patience and a measuring tape and you too can have a muffler delete for pennies on the dollar. I feel confident I picked up more than a few ponies, it looks stock and it sounds great.

It looks like these things pick up pretty good on the back end. Here's a guy's timeslip with a bonestock auto like mine. My 1/8th mph is better so I'd think I'd be around 110 or so in the quarter as is, so that's a little encouraging.

Here's another stocker auto... Slower 1/8th and mph than mine, but picks up pretty good up top....

Let me know if you decide to go to a quarter mile track. I'd like to head out there myself. I'm pretty much unavailable for the next month though, I'm headed to Ireland 3/17.

Oh yeah I was going to mention that these heavy ass cars are picking up steam in the top end. Also if you notice Doug you and those two have a few tenths in the 60ft times, you bring those around and it will pick up some more time fo sho...
