Was there an oil line failure that caused the wreck?

looks like the turbo blew up and shrapnel took out the oil feed line which causes fire and an oil-down at the same time.

looks like the exhaust housing came apart, burning the oil feed line next to it. I wonder how much back pressure they were seeing? The wheel could have come apart too.
JamesB Chassis is looking for a fabricator/general shop help, call or PM for info.

good call, could have been cut by pure heat, but seeing the housing peeled back like that makes me think shrapnel

I read that the wheel came out of it and went thru the fuel cell causing the fire

Yeah, you guys are all blind - I'm sure the oil line wasn't a problem, or not the initial problem - the gaping hole in the turbine which is right next to a fuel cell is the problem!

Reason #1189089 why I don't like fuel cells in the FRONT of a car.

                  didn't notice that...

no way I'd have a fuel cell that close to a turbo!

I was hoping that was a coolant cell or something else besides a fuel cell. Damn, that's pretty fucking retarded.

I'm glad to hear he made it out okay.

I think they do that shit for one of two reasons -to perfect the ballast on all 4 corners or to shorten the length the fuel has to move - The technology is amazing in those cars.

Coming from you, I understand- but for normal people, it's easy to see a potential problem with a has tank sitting next to a convection oven.

Looks like they have started on the turbine housing. It is an Investment Cast 310 stainless steel housing, as posted by Precision on the bullet.

That close to the fuel cell with absolutely no cover or any type of guard over the turbine housing, even to reduce heat. Makes you wonder, how hot that tank got after each pass. Don't guess it matters now.

I bet there was some sort of insulation on the tank, but of course it's MIA now.

That badass turbine housing didn't fare too well with the turbine's hasty exit.
