  • I would say that an H/C/I coupe would beat a 2011 V6. Mikes car vs a 2011 V6, I think it's a drivers race. Since we are bench racing, I bet that Mikes coupe would have a tough time with my 92 T-bird, especially from a roll.

Well lets not keep it in the dark. What's done to it?

Are those the ones with 3.8 s/c?

Yeah, 3.8L SC. .20 over pistons/Intake/Exhaust/Pulley. 3.27 rear end, 5 speed. Nothing that special, decently quick from a roll. Just another slow shitbox from the 90's.

        • I've seen stock one with a pulley. It was running mid 9s at northstar.

The 3.27 gears should do good from a roll.

I actually had two, a stock with a pulley and 2.73's, then this one. Mine walked all over the stock one. Keep in mind that stock has a 55MM TB and one of the most restrictive exhausts known to man.

Traction is an issue from a dig, especially with the 3.27's. These cars are a bit different than a mustang, especially in the transmissions. The M5R2 has a stupidly short 1st gear, 3.75 ratio.

              • why are you trying to call out a v6? Lets say you do win, wow you beat a v6, but if you get beat by a v6 wow its a no win situation so please

Lol, I know. At least it's two cars from the same era though. You know, the era when 215HP was king of the streets.

Muscle mustangs did a build on a supercoupe, stock motor with 180K miles on it. They went with a 73MM MAF, pulley, cone filter, and flowmaster exhaust. Got 230HP and 332ftlbs to the wheels, theirs looks like an automatic where mine is a 5 speed.

I have the same mods, but with magnaflow exhaust, .20 over pistons, shaved heads, and a 75MM throttle body. Haven't gotten around to a baseline pull yet, but I could easily see 240HP and 345 tq to the wheels, maybe more in the torque department.

So, I would put the edge to my t-bird in HP and TQ, it's the weight problem. Thunderchicken is a porker, figure close to 4K lbs with my 180lbs in it.

I bet it would be a close race, but it will never happen. See how much fun bench racing is?

                  • 4k? Sheesh didn't know they were that heavy.

With a roots the torque would be good, you'd have the upper hand there.

I'm sitting at 3060lb with me in it.

So 1000lbs, close hp and around 50 more lb ft.

Itd be a fun race until I ran out of gear and then you float passed me!

                    • I'd doubt 4k lbs. I think your inflating that # by atleast 500lbs.

                      • A mark 8 with all it's extras is around 3600-3700lbs.

I've ran a stock mark with 4.30 gears from a dig a roll, it wasn't close at all.

But you have tons more torque and longer gears to
                        Pull..

Are you local? We could run em.

Yeah, they are heavy bastards, which is why I laugh at the people bitching about the Camaro and Challenger weighing 4Klbs and "only" making 400HP.

From what I am seeing, stock 5.0l's from that era dyno 200HP and 265ftlbs to the wheels. So, I might see 30HP and 50-60ftlbs on you. We probably equally suck at driving. Would definitely be interesting. Don't know about you running out of gear though, I have a shorter 5th gear than a T-5. Plus the 5.0L is making power into the 5K range on power, I am flat at 4500RPM.

Marks are more like 4Klbs as well. Also had two of those, a 94 and a 96. I am out in Kaufman, closer to Dallas Raceway.
