Mike told me Peyton did the cage several years ago.

The track was prepped well for big tire cars. The problem is that the groove is always pretty small and half track to the end is not prepped well. Yes there were cars running 4.90's but they should have been in the 60's or 70's.
Exactly. We had Rodney's car tuned way back as did Josh Linsey. We both could get the cars to hook, but past 60' it was a different story. We also ran our slowest 60' of the year, as did Josh. Both these cars will run 70's with no bars.

I heard today the VP changed there track bite, to aid with the drag radials. The change they made supposedly screwed up how a slick bites. Alot of tracks are pissed about it, because they told nobody about it. If you cut it, which all tracks do, it compounds the problem.

Just so you know Mike said something BROKE on the car that's why it went dead left. It was not the track at all he was on a dang good pass. I am glad Blake blew the tires off so there were not two of them tangled up. It was Blakes truck he landed on and also Blake's Birthday But these drivers will stop and help each other out. They are all blessed that the outcome was better than it was. The truck stopped him from going into the pits. But debris did. He had cuts from glass hitting him and a few bumps on his head. But, believe it or not the motor is fine! That cage did it's job and the helmet.

Real lucky no one was hurt. A couple of my friends were standing right there when it went over the rail lucky that shagged ass and were paying attention to the race. I think it would be a good idea to put up concrete walls just to keep it a little bit more safe for the people watching from the pits. This is one reason I won't park close to the track too far from the starting line. Things happen too fast.

I don't believe anything broke. I can slow the video down for every .01/second. The car spun hard right before it went left. In the video nothing in the suspension was out of the ordinary all the way until the wall contact. Its amazing how high the car gets of the ground launching from the wall. Its a good thing this happened whenever the speeds were down. If he hit the same angle towards the end, at greater speeds, the car would have landed in the pits.

That's what I'm saying.. the concrete wall will be safer for the spectators.
I don't see the concrete wall folding into a ramp anyways.

or water filled barrels down the length of the fence. at that point it’s about the absorption of energy. would be safe for drivers and spectators. would also be cheaper to contruct.

Guys, that wreck could have happened a million different ways - but this time around it happened THIS way. Coulda, woulda, shoulda - in the end, we're all lucky that driver was ok, Mike's a cool cat.

A few years back JoJo hit the wall in Alabama (?) in his white LX @ about 170. The wall was concrete - it SHREDDED that car. The engine was laying a few hundred feet from the car, the front of the car was gone from the firewall forward.

I dont think anything in the car broke, not to the point that it would cause a wreck at least - but Mike said it did. The video seems to show that fluid got under the tires as evidence of the engine revving to the moon right before the car got loose.

Long story short, anything can happen at a race track at any time. You have to be prepared as possible when/if it does.

Brooks but like you said with JoJo car. Yeah it destoryed the car but everything stayed on the track. I have always hated the guard rails just for this reason. Will I race with them on the track YES. Do I like it NO. This wreck could of turned out very bad but didn't. Glad Mike is okay.

You are right, and my post came across the wrong way - I am a big advocate for the concrete walls as opposed to the regular ol' guard rails.

Several years back, I remember Bebo Chandler (sp?) in the pro mod hopping over one guardrail with the throttle stuck, flipping the car, and hopping BACK over the guardrail, out on the track and across and over the opposite guardrail...
