I should definitely be able to drop 2 tenths with tires. 8.40's to 8.20's should be easy. I am also getting wheel hop shifting into second, so I'm losing momentum and time there. Control arms and tires should make a big difference.

Our shop car ran a best of 12.4 at 112 bone stock on stock tires..

were they the 235 or 255's? who ever drove that car probably has a lot more seat time than I. I am learning again, and will get better.

The 5.0 was my wifes and it is an auto, 8.0 at 88mph. The auto are a little easier to launch. Congrats on your new best!!

What month did the car run this? all my times have been in 100+ degree weather except for the 8.40's which was in the 90's. Just curious if that might be making a difference or if I have that much to work on with my driving.

This was in the spring 85-88 degrees.

8.20s-8.30s should come easy in this car i have consistently run that even with wheel hop tires will help but in less you go to a drag tire it won't help as much as you think. I've had both a car with the 235 all seasons and now a brembo car with the 255 summer tires I know how bad they 235 can suck but true is both spin way to much. Your best thing would be working on the launch I have found just a little past idle is about all I can do
Without going up in smoke. I have run a best of 8.25 with 12.58 in the 1/4 only mods were tuned and muffler deletes hoping to 12.0-12.2 with drag radials and cooler weather.

What's your 60' as well? Because mine has sucked best is a 2.01 on the new car could only muster a 2.09 on those all seasons for comparison.
