RR and track day forum and add to it suspension setups for that type of thing.
As far as you chickens thinking you don't have something for road course use...we have a STOCK dodge neon we use for fun. There are plenty of stock fox mustangs that get tracked with ZERO issues. You usually don't have to look into brake and suspension mods till at least your third weekend because you really don't have the skills to overdrive a stock vehicle at first.
Mach, if you need a mod for it, sign me up. We might also be able to discuss a sponsored ad through it but to be honest, in 4 years of "letting ya'll know" about track events, I think Ryan was the only one to ever sign up.
My Finance' owns Revolution Precision Motorsport School...RPM School for short. www.rpmschool.net I am the chief driving instructor. we have an event coming up in October at Harris Hill Road Course in San Marcos. If we can get 5 or 10 of you guys to sign up, I will work a deal with a local San Marcos hotel to get discounted rates and we can even setup a saturday night get together at the local bikini top beer and burger joint. Get me 10 DFWS signups and I'll knock some off the price for the event. Bring your friends and enjoy a day at Harris Hill. It's always a hoot and not nearly as expensive or as hard on your car as you think. I will even waive the tech inspection fee and inspect your car for free if you guys get 10 people to sign up.

Do you have that need for speed? Become a member of the premier road course of Texas with a MSR Houston membership. We offer garages for our members that range in size from a single car spot to private custom-built buildings. Custom family, corporate, or race team memberships are available.

SCCA usually requires at a minimum a bondurant 3 day school which runs about $5000. NASA, depending on your skill level will require at least 4 nasa weekends and a legal race car with all the safety equipment and proper cage. Even then, they might only clear you for time trials which also has some pretty high requirements for experience. All of this is done for safety.
Every driver's situation is different and there is no single answer on the "ladder" you must climb to get a provisional comp license. Some take 10 to 20 events, some take less. Many AutoX guys take less time as they have already developed the car control skills and hand eye work that is the basis for most green run groups. They then progress through an intermediate and advanced class and then on to building a race car.
Many tracks offer memberships with an large initiation fee, usually $2500 or more depending on how much track time and how many guests you would like for the year. Then there are fees, usually $75 to 150 per month, AND then you pay for "asphalt fees" every session you put the car on the track. This can range from $25 per 30 minute session, to $200 for an entire day.
What we provide are High Performance Driving Events, no memberships required! Usually 2 day events, Saturday and Sunday or Saturday only. Price is $295 and you get about 180 minutes of track time with an instructor sitting in your passenger seat giving directions and helping you build skills to move through the ranks, and 2 or 3 classroom sessions per day answering questions and discussing track techniques. It's a bargain really.
Many folks have concerns about car prep for these types of events or wear and tear on the car. In all honesty, if you drive your car like you stole it, yeah, the brakes and tires are going to suffer. If you follow the rules, stay safe and work on the techniques we teach to get faster and smoother, many cars see little wear on the tires and generally will go through 1/4 to 1/3 of pad thickness depending on the car.
