had a small block ford, with ladder bars i thought, and was also a different color? Last i talked to him he had dougs old motor going in there.

By the looks i would guess there is in issue with the kits, and not the carbs. It started rolling coals when the kits started coming on. Those big motors will put up with it for a little while with 1 or 2 little stages, but it's not going to live long beating on the rings with all that raw fuel. looks somewhere around a 2 jet split on 6+ pounds if i had to guess.
