  • xtreme power super mig 180??

Has anyone heard of these welders? It is an inverter mih welder made in china. Im looking for something cheap for tacking parts in place and minor things but cant bring myself to spend 600+ for a lincoln or similar. Thoughts idead suggestions? Id like to get minimal 140 amp but prefer something closer to 180 and 220v will be bonus.

You get what you pay for. Paid 1100 for my Miller 211 with spool gun and love it.

Yeah for sure I was just hoping I could get a cheaper unit that will work. I pretty much tig everything but sometimes it a bit difficult to tack parts together with the tig if you need filler.

Oh and how do you like the spool gun? I have heard mixed about having the xtra weight and size of the gun itself.

A lot of guys are buying HF welders and modifying them with a PC fan to sidestep the duty cycle with fairly good results.

We did the pc fan on a small lincoln. It should have stopped working a loooong time ago. When i get to welding i never stop. It never gets a chance to cool down.

You're supposed to stop? I'm serious here, lol. I've only stick welded, not well, hell what I'm doing now looks like decent shit. I need to take a class sometime, or watch some videos. I've got shit to weld though.

I understand duty cycle, but I've only got it 3/4 turned up. A bottle is going on very soon, along with some mods.

I'm not sure how I make these welds I need to do 9' off the ground. Do they make leads that long for mig? I'm going to lift the welder on a pallet with forklift, then climb a ladder, all i've came up with.

I ended up getting a northern tool 140 amp unit. Not exactly what I was wanting but the price was right and mostly ill be using it to tack pieces together temporarily then finish welding them with a tig. So far it works just fine.
