  • Household stand in for cutting oil?

    I have to cut a 1.5" hole and a 2" hole in 11 gauge (1/8th inch) steel.

What should I use, that I might already have?

I've read dish soap, gear oil, parafin wax, etc.

    Well?

    Thanks!

I have used trans/power steering fluid, gear oil may be ok bit it stinks. Also dont overlook lard/cooking oils mixed with water if you are worried about heat (machinery handbook 1951).

Motor oil. The tenants before us left a big jug of rotella, so my apocalypse gun lube stash is secure.

Yeah, I've used motor oil many times, general lube oil, wd40, whatever cools the metal.
