So I stumbled upon a new in box Lincoln Weldpak 180HD. Yep, it's the Home Depot version of the 220V mig box. I have had a 90amp weldpak 3200HD since 2005 and used the bejeesus out of it but it fell short on power for big stuff. Found this 180HD on craigslist for a great price and was NIB.
So I used it this week to build a heavy duty cart out of 2" sq tube and it worked great....on power level E. There is a selector for A, B, C, D, and E. Well, A, B, C and E work, but on level D, it just heats up the wire and doesn't arc. All other levels work perfectly. Not a huge issue as I think I will be using it on level E most all the time, but does this sound like a selector switch problem or something bigger on a board internally?
I think I can fill out all the warranty info and probably get it repaired if need be but if I can just buy a selector switch, I am off to the races!
Thanks for any input.
