  • Millermatic Passport Plus questions

I'm new to welding but do have a use for one and am always looking at improving my skills. This guy wants to trade me his Millermatic welder for my S-trim, he says it's brand new and never had wire through it. He sent me pics and it does look brand new.

Do you guys think this is a good deal? Is it a good welder for a beginner? I'll mainly be using it for automotive stuff. Everything I've seen online these welders go for $1,600-2,000.

    Thanks
    Chris

I've never used one, or even heard of one until you posted this. I looked it up, and it appears to be a pretty slick little machine. Now, it's not 'intended' for what your wanting to do, but will still work fine. It's a jobsite, light duty - high portability kind of thing..Light duty related to industrial welding is usually pretty heavy duty in the automotive world - it will weld anything on a car with ease.

I noticed it actually has a built in gas cylinder, that's pretty cool - but it's only good for about 25 minutes of welding. It does say that it's capable of dual gas - meaning it can use a standard style bottle too.

If it were me, I'd trade for it.
