This makes me feel better about being a lazy ass and not removing it the past 2 weeks. The car actually seems to handle a lot better, it used to roll hard in corners and now it doesn't and low speed corning seems vastly better. Could be in my head, but I don't thing so.

Okay, now back to your bad ass ride/work, I'll stop polluting it with my b.s.!

    • One other thing, as mentioned above - I'll likely shorten the links, as I've done many times in the past.

My only regret is installing the tabs while the car is on stands. No biggie.

      • Finally, got through with some other projects and had some time to work on mine. This is only from the past day's work, I surely hope to have a lot more to report done in the next few days.

First - Fab tip of the day. This nut is welded in place to facilitate the cutting of the notch for this tube to fit over. In this case, a 5/16" nut is tacked in place to hold the pilot drill for the 1 5/8" hole saw. This time a nut was used because of the height of the centerline in relation to the top of the tube. If the centerline were further from the surface, I'd just use a small scrap of steel and drill a hole through it.

        This is the finished product.

..and the finish product installed, viewed from the bottome, sheet metal installed. This is only the fuel cell mount. There will be additional bracing added for the battery (drivers side) and fuel pump(passengers side).

In order to keep the project moving, while the paint was drying I started trimming the passenger side inner apron in the engine bay. This will make more sense later.

Nope. The only thing I can recall saying (it's in this post somewhere).. was that I may minitub it next season. The back bars are the wrong ones (they're for a minitubbed car) which worked out good - now I won't have to change them. Besides, i can go 4's with this setup and 28 X 10's.

It's one of those things that adds a bunch of time to the project and isn't totally needed. (for me)

              • The entire setuip is looking very good and your attention to details on things speaks for itself.

                • Thanks Jeff!

                  Last night's work:

I got the passenger side apron panel made, installed, and trimmed up. I put the nut inserts into the frame rails, and the top of the apron so the panel can be removed if needed. Not shown, but it's painted with black wrinkle paint for now. At some point, probably next season, it will likely get painted with the same color as whatever I paint the car with.

                  • Planning on running a lot of boost there Brooks? I noticed the strap you've got welded on the piping.

                      • Is that a lug nut for the alt spacer?

Lol i'm going to list open ended shankd lug nuts on Ebay as alternator spacers.

No, as Paul said, it's a standoff that comes from Moroso. Their setup is kinda shitty. That's actually on the To-Do list of things to change... along with removing the spacer on the outside end of the bolt...and getting the right bolt of course.

Yeah I'd be pissed if I bought a lug nut too
