ah yes, efi is so nice (at least when you or somebody competent can tune it). I didn't figure it was affecting anything, other than the one little bog, based on the last video clip it was moving along for sure. At some point I hope to have my motor\tuning issues all resolved and get to enjoy my car (sat for damn near a year this time (christmas will be a year)) it's nice watching the builds and progress threads as the vehicles transform in to what they're built for. You make the megasquirt stuff sound so easy to build around but i've kept myself away from it in trying to keep my stuff more simplified by not adding another factory into my build stuff/problems. Always a pleasure seeing an update to the thread.

The ONLY problem I've had with megasquirt from a software standpoint are self inflicted. I did a firmware update which hosed my ignition settings. I started playing around with some of the new ALS features and got lost. After a few weeks trying to resolve it, I realized that the new firmware had a change revision feature which ulitmately lead me back to where the problem originated - a bunk ignition setting that I should ahve backed up.
Their customer service sucks, mainly because the product is so versatile, they rely on their forums for fixing and problems. If you read enough, there is SOMEONE out there who's had your same problem.. you just have to read to find it.
For someone who's not electronically inclined, I'd get the 3.57 board that's already assembled, it has jumpers for different types of ignition systems and can be used on just about anything...

Customer service sounds almost as bad as FAST, thats the only stand alone system I have experience with and it's only on the install side. Between work and keeping my brain accustomed to the General automotive world, it's hard to remember all the "safe" parameters and desired A\F ratio's, total timing for boost, etc to feel comfortable trying to self teach the tuning software. I've left it for the guys that do it more daily. I don't think my boost and power level will be outside of what the 98 eec in my car is capable of, but there is always the lack of boost referenced tuning parameters. My trans controller is so simple that almost anyone can adjust it so long as you don't get carried away with line pressure or overlap any upshift and downshift intersects. The baumann controller is very nice, especially when you look at the cost.

It's time to start the winter upgrades, or at the very least - finish putting the car back together. Right now, as it sits, I have a lot of stuff I want to do, but not sure if funds will allow with the shop opening up.
I wanted to minitub it, EFI, lower it and do a bunch of stuff - but may only get to put it back together with the interior installed this time. Just have to see how money goes in the upcoming months.
So, with any build thread, I'd expect there to be some goofs. I am no exception, it can happen to anyone - I'm pissed about this one, but laughing at the same time. It goes to show, you shouldn't be bullshitting when you're putting a motor together. What you are seeing in the following picture is an entire tube of silicone laying in the oil pan. This has been in place for a couple years. The motor sat on the stand for a couple months. Apparently the tube was held in place by the oil pump and didn't hurt a thing. Notice the torn up spot on the tube from getting hit by the crank. whoopsie.
After 50-60 passes, the bottom end is in spotless condition - even after making 1400HP and seeing nearly 8,000RPM's time and time again. Despite the silicone. lol.

I was on the phone with a buddy after firing up my old SVO for the first time after the motor rebuild. Car started chugging and died. Told him I would call back and did the checks. Everything looked good. Turned the key and the starter buzzed and the motor didnt flinch. Wouldn't turn over with a breaker. O deer. Found a piece of trash lodged in the pickup (yes, re-used the pickup and didnt check it) after dropping the pan.Originally posted by PGreenCobraI can't get over the fact that you get to go live the rest of your life, knowing that someone made a Halloween costume out of you. No pics yet, not till the end of the week.
but...
The motor is nearly back together. I partially tore it down, heads off, pulled a couple of pistons etc. It was so clean and in such good shape, I'm not going to do anyting else to it. (it only has 50-60 passes on it).
Looks like it's 99% sure going to be EFI this time too. I wanted the added benifits of fueling control for the ALS tuning in megasquirt. This should make spool up a bit nicer.
I'll post pics soon.

You're lucky I remembered where I found that thing, because I didn't have it bookmarked!
Be prepared to want to buy everything on this site...
